K. Supriya

Postdoctoral scholar

Research interests: Broadly, I am interested in understanding the causes for under-representation of women and people of color in STEM and finding ways to make scientific research community more diverse and inclusive. More specifically, I am interested in studying how teaching practices and assessments at the undergraduate level contribute to the problem of under-representation and how we need to modify our teaching practices.

About me: I grew up in New Delhi, India and came to U.S. to pursue a PhD in Evolutionary Biology at the University of Chicago. For my PhD, I studied competition between birds and ants for arthropod prey and nesting spaces in the eastern Himalaya. Over the course of my PhD, I became interested in inclusive pedagogy and the field of education research.

Mentoring: Brian Cruz, Kaela Villegas, and Puja Chhetri
