Nevada Wagoner
Former Masters student in Biology and Society
Research interests: science communication, STEM education, science policy
About me: After receiving a B.S. in Human Development from the University of Arizona in 2011, I worked in the field for two years before attending Arizona State University. Broadly, I'm interested in science communication and scientific literacy with an emphasis on the way the dissemination of scientific information influences global health and science policy. My research looks at the use of primary scientific literature in undergraduate life science education, namely by considering the historical and current science community practices.
In my spare time I tend to explore the food scene in the diverse Phoenix metropolitan area with the occasional bout of hiking, biking, and other sorts of adventures. I enjoy the beautiful and uncharted in both urban and rural Arizona, and enjoy being able to occasionally get away and work at my family's cattle ranch in Northeastern AZ.
Masters thesis in Biology and Society: Exploratory study on the use of primary scientific literature in undergraduate education: Faculty practices and perceptions
