New publication: A course-based undergraduate experience where students characterize p53 mutants

We are happy to announce a new publication that Sara is a co-author on that describes the curriculum for a course-based undergraduate research experience that she helped develop and assess at Stanford University.

The article entitled "Using yeast to determine the functional consequences of mutations in the human p53 tumor suppressor gene: An introductory course-based undergraduate research experience in molecular and cell biology" is published the journal Biochemistry and Molecular Biology Education (BAMBE). This article outlines the specific set of experiments that students conducted in the course with example student data, course assignments, and a set of recommendations for instructors interested in developing this type of course-based undergraduate research experience. Please click here to access the article.

This work complements a publication that assessed the impact of this course on students that was published in CBE Life Sciences Education in June 2015.
