Sara gives a talk at ASU in the Evidence-based teaching in STEM seminar series

Sara talked about her work examining hidden inequities in active learning undergraduate biology classrooms as part of the Evidence-based teaching in STEM seminar series, which is held on the Tempe campus at ASU. She highlighted gender gaps that seem to be exacerbated in active learning classrooms where we ask students to share out to whole class discussions and work in small groups. She also talked about challenges that LGBTQIA students face in active learning environments.

After the talk, graduate student Katey Cooper led a workshop on how instructors can become more aware of their biases and build more inclusive classrooms.
