Sara and collaborator Gita Bangera have a new publication that was featured in the December issue of CBE LSE entitled "Course-based undergraduate research experiences can make scientific research more inclusive."
They argue that embedding research into a formal course can get rid of some of the barriers to student participation in undergraduate research and that these barriers often select against women, low socioeconomic status students, and under-represented minority students. Thus, course-based undergraduate research experiences (CUREs) could help make the scientific research community more inclusive.
