Sara co-led a two-week summer bridge program called BioBridge for ~30 entering ASU freshmen that focused on the overarching question of "Why we get sick?" In the program, students started thinking like scientists through researching the recent Ebola outbreak, reading "Why We Get Sick: The New Science of Darwinian Medicine," and trying out some experiments of their own focused on antibiotic resistance in the lab! Students also got to meet other freshman, upper-classmen, student advisors, and faculty through the program - building a community of budding scientists excited about exploring biology at ASU. Activities will continue throughout the semester, so stay tuned for more information.
